October 5, 2026 – BeeX, developer, designer, and operator of autonomous underwater drones, and Blue Ecology Contractors BV (BEC), a Dutch company that specializes in the management of offshore ecological projects, have firmed up a collaboration on the joint development of ecological projects within the greater North Sea region. The partnership was formalized at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026, Germany on 28 September by Grace Chia, CEO of BeeX, and Marco Visser, Co-founder and Managing Director of Blue Ecology Contractors.

What the partnership brings

As offshore wind and energy development accelerates across the North Sea, demand is growing for reliable ecological monitoring and inspections, both to meet regulatory requirements and to improve marine biodiversity.

Traditional underwater inspection methods often depend remotely operated vehicle systems that need constant piloting and stabilization in strong currents, in addition large fuel-intensive Dynamic Positioning support vessels that work-class systems depend on.

The partnership responds to a call for more environmentally friendly inspection services, specialized expert project management, and reliable ecological data. BeeX's autonomous drones, supported by their lean logistical launch and recovery and minimal equipment, reduces CO2 emissions emitted by offshore support vessels in each project, all while delivering industry-grade data through an advanced integration of sensors, artificial intelligence, and current-fighting platform. These drones will be utilized at offshore ecology projects requiring underwater vehicle services managed by BEC.

As a partner, BEC’s strategically located local base in the port of Scheveningen, NL, vessel access and mobilization support will enhance deployments through more strategic, efficient, and flexible project timelines. Together, both parties will benefit from shared knowledge over regulatory frameworks and regional opportunities in the greater North Sea area, combining their market knowledge, regulatory insight and networks with clients and government bodies in the Netherlands.

“Ecological monitoring is an important job beneath the surface, and it needs to happen at a scale and frequency that traditional methods struggle to deliver. Partnering with BEC exposes our autonomous drones to research, academia, and government bodies looking to carry out ecological projects more reliably, productively, and sustainably," said Grace Chia, CEO of BeeX.

From Marco Visser, Co-founder and Managing Director of Blue Ecology Contractors, “BEC’s mission is enabling offshore ecology, by bringing with technological advancements and operational know-how to science and nature enhancement initiatives at sea, to contribute to effective and safe upscaling of ecological features in offshore windfarms and beyond. We’re excited to integrate BeeX's advanced autonomous systems into our suite of technical solutions, aiding ecological projects and to help our clients gather better data more safely and efficiently.”

Strengthening an EU Network for Rapid Response over Local Projects

The partnership with BEC is part of BeeX's long-term expansion in Northern Europe and its growing global network of partners. BeeX continues to work with operators, contractors and asset owners who share its vision for transformed and scalable underwater operations enabled by true autonomous systems.
